We are seeking to add a Job Cost Accountant to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the highway construction industry. Overview: We are seeking an experienced and tech-savvy Job Cost Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is critical in tracking and analyzing job cost data to support accurate project budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, particularly in heavy highway projects, and be proficient in Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob software. This position will report directly to the Financial Controller and work closely with the Technology Manager to develop automated dashboards for monthly reporting and analysis. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Track, analyze, and report job costs for active construction projects. Ensure accurate job cost allocation in the ERP system (Viewpoint Vista). Review labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs against project budgets. Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure timely and accurate cost tracking and do monthly PM meeting with project managers. Perform job cost variance analysis and provide insights to management. Prepare monthly job cost reports and support WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules. Reconcile subcontractor billing, cost commitments, and purchase orders. Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and automated reporting tools in coordination with the Technology Manager. Support month-end close with journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience in job cost accounting within the heavy highway construction industry. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista is required. Experience with HCSS HeavyJob or similar field cost tracking software preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with technology and develop dashboards or data visualizations. Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
