Department Summary

The Office of Admissions employs more than 50 staff members with primary responsibilities for the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of undergraduate domestic students. The department is comprised of a skilled group of employees who strive to represent the university professionally and courteously to internal and external constituents. The department encourages professional development, educational advancement, and consistent internal communication. The Office of Admissions has a variety or roles and work environments including on-campus staff, remote staff, and positions that allow for extensive travel.

Role Summary

Implements recruitment plans, organizes events, works with staff and student/alumni volunteers, evaluates admissions applications and represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, geographically diverse student body.

 

The primary responsibilities of this position include communicating with prospective students and families, attending recruitment events at high schools, community colleges and other venue, planning and executing recruitment events away from campus, assisting with special visit days and conferences for prospective students and families, evaluating student academic credentials, providing admissions counseling and direction to prospective students, and supporting the overall mission of the university and the Division of Enrollment Management.

 

This position will be based in the greater Atlanta, GA, metropolitan area and will recruit students from the state of Georgia.

Examples of Work Performed

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Communicating with prospective students and families,
  • Attending recruitment events at high schools, community colleges and other venue,
  • Planning and executing recruitment events away from campus,
  • Assisting with special visit days and conferences for prospective students and families,
  • Evaluating student academic credentials,
  • Providing admissions counseling and direction to prospective students,
  • Supporting the overall mission of the university and the Division of Enrollment Management.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities.
2. Receives, evaluates and responds to freshman and transfer student applications according to established policies and procedures.
3. Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution.
4. Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new program development.
5. Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
6. Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
7. Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.
